5 Important Concepts for Success

Posted on February 12, 2014February 12, 2014 by dcadmin

Keeping every employee motivated and engaged is a big job for leaders and managers. Across the Pennsylvania, the attention is now on 2014 and the future looks good for our area and our state.

Assurance and confidence are essential ingredients as we end the year and head into the new one. In 1956, Dale Carnegie’s Speaking and Influencing Men in Business was updated into the best seller, How to Develop Self-Confidence and Influence People by Public Speaking.

In this book, a management book for anyone who leads people, Mr. Carnegie writes:  “Think success. It is easily in your power to do this. Believe it firmly and you will then do what is necessary to bring success about.”

This definition of leadership is one that spreads to the employees.

Here are five concepts found in the book that offer ideas for success:

  • Accomplishments: Work and results are founded in hard work and opportunity. Doing things well and makes for both growth and success.
  • Gratitude:  Thanking people who go over and above is very important.
  • Trustworthiness: Honesty and integrity go together. Everyone should be on the same page.
  • Simplicity: The little things give people the best joy. Motivation can indeed come from that pat on the back or that mention in a meeting.
  • Relationship: A smile and a handshake often combine to influence others to do more than what might be required; there is excellence found, when we take the time to look for it.

Years ago, Mr. Carnegie knew how to engage teams and organizations. He still sets the bar in 2014. He knew how to make friends and influence others to be the best of the best.
